Questions and Answers Below
Does Gateway make cuts in their club teams?
While the high school club teams are more selective, in the U-10, U-12, and U-14 divisions we do NOT make cuts to allow for all athletes to participate, improve, and compete with athletes of similar ability. We encourage anyone who wants to improve their game of field hockey to join Gateway Club. In the U-16 and U-19 division we offer club to any high school athlete, but selection to certain tournaments is highly elite. Some tournaments in all age divisions are selection based and may require an evaluation.
What is the year round schedule like and what is included each season?
The year round club includes all the seasons from March of 2018 through February of 2019. Below is what is included in each season. We have made some changes for the summer season, so please read through this section. New this year we will offer high school prep training sessions exclusively for our incoming 9th - 12th graders. We do not have regular practices for the 2nd - 8th graders during the summer, but summer camp and firecracker is included. It is too difficult to have weekly practices in the summer due to the girls travel and vacation schedules. If you are selected for the Disney teams and/or RCC/NCC teams then you will have some additional team practices.

Gateway Field Hockey Club History and Information
Gateway's Year Round Club program started in 2001 when we began taking teams to the Disney Field Hockey Showcase. Before 2001 Gateway was the first club in St. Louis to take teams to the National Field Hockey Festival over Thanksgiving weekend. Gateway Field Hockey has been around since 1985 and is the #1 Club in Missouri and in the top 10 in all age divisions by USAFH in the country! Participation in Gateway Club gives players an opportunity to train and compete with top players from the St. Louis area against teams from around the country. The Gateway club teams are well respected throughout the country at all the National tournaments. A list of club accolades is can be viewed on the home page of our website. Throughout the year Gateway uses the areas top facilities for its training, practices, leagues, and camps.
Gateway Club year round sign up is always the first week of March. The season runs from March 2018 through February 2019 and includes spring, summer, and fall outdoor seasons and an indoor season in the winter. The yearly Club fee covers spring training, spring league, summer training, fall training, fall league, winter training, winter league, one week of summer camp, skills training, and tournament participation and opportunity. U-16 and U-19 athletes will also be assisted with college recruiting.
Tournament teams will be selected from the club rosters based on ability, year long participation, and availability. Additional costs will be incurred for each tournament, travel, and uniforms. Selection to the teams attending the National Field Hockey Festival, Disney Field Hockey Showcase, Naples Winter WarmUp, Presidents Day Showcase, and the Regional (and National) Club Championships will be based on skill level, attendance and year-round participation in Gateway Field Hockey Club. Tournament teams will be selected before each tournament and can change from tournament to tournament.
Do you offer payment plans?
In order to ensure a consistent club atmosphere with high level coaches and training we typically do not offer a two payment, quarterly, or monthly option. We plan the year accordingly and hire staff and reserve facilities based on enrollment at the beginning of the year. Another reason we do not do payments is because we want to spend our time focused on the field hockey rather then the collection of monthly or quarterly fees. A one time up front fee ensures your participation for the year. While we do understand that joining club is a costly commitment, we are willing to work with your family to make a payment plan if you need. We have done much research in other club sports fees and we feel that we are very fair and competitive with others. Please contact Kelly at 314-422-8998 to discuss your options.
Why are the fees different between the divisions?
The prices are different between the age divisions because each division is offered a variety of training sessions, league opportunities, tournament opportunities, etc. The high school division price is slightly less then the younger division because they are not involved with club through a practice and league standpoint in the fall due to their high school involvement. While the price is less, the high school athletes will be getting more training time. Also included in the high school fees are recruiting assistance and more tournament opportunities. The middle age division (5th - 8th) is the most expensive because they are involved the most. Three seasons during the school year as well as summer camp and summer tournaments is the reason why the fee for this division is the highest. The youngest division (1st - 4th) is the least expensive because this is an introductory time for club and they have less training and tournament opportunities. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions in regards to fees.
