Academy is for players that love field hockey and want to develop their skills without a huge commitment of time to the sport. They may sign up for individual sessions in Fall, Winter, Spring and Summer. They train one time per week and play league games on Sundays. Gateway Academy (formerly named Skills and Drills) was introduced to St. Louis in 2008 as an option to practice during the seasons without joining the Gateway Club. Academy sessions are typically seven to nine weeks and coincide with Gateway league for each season (spring, fall, and winter). Academy is a great stepping stone before joining Gateway Club. Each week the Academy coaches focus on various skills including: passing, receiving, hitting, sweeping, lifting, defending, 2v1 concepts, goal scoring, attacking, and much more! Academy is a great option for new players!
